At the Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation, we invest in the people, organizations, and ideas working to strengthen Georgetown County. Since 2000, we’ve supported local nonprofits addressing the needs and opportunities that matter most to our community—from meeting basic needs and supporting young people to protecting our environment and strengthening our local economy.

But we also know that making a difference isn’t only about the grants we make. Sometimes it means showing up, rolling up our sleeves, and working alongside our neighbors.

About Bunnelle Days of Service
Rooted in Who We Are
Days of Service is more than a week of volunteer projects—it is an extension of the Foundation’s mission to enhance the quality of life in Georgetown County by responding to current needs for a better today and addressing long-term, systemic inequities for a brighter tomorrow.
​
That spirit of service goes all the way back to our founder, Frances P. Bunnelle. Mrs. Bunnelle believed that people should care for one another according to their means, and she quietly supported people in need throughout her lifetime. That belief in community caring for community continues to guide our work today.
From Conversation to Action
Over the past few years, we’ve spent time listening to residents through our Community Conversations. One message has continued to come through clearly: housing remains a need across Georgetown County. And addressing that need doesn’t always mean building something new. Sometimes, making a meaningful difference can be as simple as repairing a porch, clearing an overgrown yard, improving accessibility, painting a home, or lending a helping hand.

Bunnelle Days of Service was created to turn those conversations into action.
​
From October 20–24, 2026, we’re bringing together neighbors, nonprofits, businesses, schools, faith communities, and civic groups for a countywide week of service. Together, we’ll complete home and community improvement projects, work alongside local nonprofit partners, and share our skills and resources to strengthen neighborhoods across Georgetown County.
You don’t have to be a contractor or an experienced volunteer to make a difference. Bring your coworkers, family, friends, church, civic organization, or simply bring yourself.
